What we are faced with closely resembles a kind of cemetery apparatus—a symbolic space that, more than any other, represents where human beings go to remember the past.

What Pasquini presents is a sort of hill dotted with 23 crosses—a number that frequently recurs in the artist’s life, beginning with his own birthdate: December 23rd.

Birth, death, memory, and nostalgia—these are central themes in Pasquini’s artistic philosophy, all of which are deeply embedded in this piece.

Sempre per la mostra The End of the Nineties l’artista realizza quello che potremmo descrivere come l’emblema del ricordo, del memoriale e della nostalgia. Quello che ci troviamo davanti ricorda quasi un apparato cimiteriale, simbolo, appunto, del luogo per eccellenza dove l’essere umano ricorda il passato.

Quello che Pasquini ci propone è una sorta di collina che accoglie 23 croci, numero che ricorre spesso nella vita dell’artista partendo già dalla sua data di nascita, 23 dicembre. Nascita, morte, ricordo, nostalgia, parole centrali all’interno della filosofia dell’artista e che ritroviamo in quest’opera.
