With UI1001, we are presented with a digital collage depicting the Twin Towers during the 9/11 attacks, overshadowed by the statue of Lenin. This work was created to represent the 1990s, a decade that, in many ways, began in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall (and with it, Soviet socialism). The ‘90s were marked by a widespread sense of change and resurgence, shaped by the previous decade’s explosion of capitalism and extreme individualism, forces that made the rich even richer and the poor increasingly poorer. The decade comes to a symbolic close with the collapse of the Twin Towers in 2001.

Con UI1001 ci troviamo davanti ad un collage digitale che ritrae le torri gemelle durante l’attentato dell’11 settembre 2001 sovrastate dalla statua di Lenin. Quest’opera nasce per rappresentare gli anni ‘90, che cominciano nell’89 con la caduta del muro di Berlino (e con lui del socialismo sovietico), attraversati da un sentimento comune di rivalsa e di cambiamento, reduci dallo scoppio nel precedente decennio del capitalismo e dell’individualismo estremo che hanno fatto diventare i ricchi più ricchi e i poveri ancora più poveri, e che terminano con il crollo delle torri gemelle nel 2001.
