“What game am I playing?”
This is the question Pasquini asks himself after creating this work, which we could almost describe as unique within his entire artistic production.
It is a large-scale canvas in which the artist ventures into abstract painting. Although Pasquini is not an abstract painter, this work shows us how, at times, such an impulse can override the artist’s figurative nature—resulting in a tormented canvas where layer upon layer blends together, eventually breaking the boundaries of pure painting through the installation of two wooden feet. These elements transform the canvas into a sculpture, satisfying a need for gesture and suffering that now claims its own physical space in the world.

“A che gioco sto giocando?”

è questa la domanda che Pasquini si fa dopo aver realizzato quest’opera, che potrebbero quasi definire unica in tutta la sua produzione artistica.

Si tratta di una tela di grandi dimensioni in cui l’artista si cimenta realizzando un’opera di pittura astratta. Nonostante Pasquini non sia un pittore astratto quest’opera ci mostra come, a volte, quest’impeto scavalchi la natura figurativa dell’artista in una tela sofferta dove strati su strati si mescolano insieme fino a fuoriuscire dai confini della pura pittura con l’installazione di due piedi in legno che rendono così questa tela una scultura, appagando un bisogno di gestualità e sofferenza che occupa a questo punto uno spazio nel mondo.
